This is a broad term for policies which cover your personal property which is not at a defined location all of the time (“floating”). Examples of items covered under this type of policy are Jewelry, Furs, Cameras, Musical Instruments, Silverware, and Stamp and Coin Collections. These items usually have a high value per item, so need to be listed separately on the policy. An appraisal or recent sales receipt may be used to confirm the value to be insured. Coverage is very broad, and subject to a very few exclusions when written on this type of policy, which may be either a separate policy, or an extension of the Homeowner’s policy.
